A Identification Operator, formerly called Surveillance Operator, in the Air Force monitors Danish airspace using modern radar and communication equipment. The work requires close cooperation with the rest of the alert team and other NATO integrated air defense.

This is the person you always see on the film, which makes the overall attention that there is an unidentified object on the radar and call them up to ask them to identify themselves.

Some of the tasks you can expect to perform include detection, identification and reporting of aircraft.

It takes a patient's mind to sit with his eyes fixed on the screen to await the unexpected objects. But there is always something happening in space, so you quickly learn to find the pattern in which objects are permitted to overfly and which ones have not.

There will probably be a greater demand for this kind of employees as there are more and more UAVs or drones, and these become larger and more sophisticated.

In the military used UAVs also more and more, so any surprise attack one might imagine would be by means of these drones. Therefore, the job is very important.

Especially in times where potential powers like Russia rattles the saber for showing off, it is important with an Identification Operator, which may ask the Russian aircraft to turn back or identify themselves if they do not have anything to do in Danish airspace.

You must have the Army basic training in order to be accepted for this program.

The program starts with a week's internship at flyvastation Karup, where you learn the various routines and learn to use the devices in surveillance and early warning system. Then, on a theoretical course in warning system knowledge, radar theory, provisions for flight, practical training, etc.

You can expect to be issued after graduation.
