Many opticians are trained optometrists. Training Optometrist is about man's eyes and vision. You learn to make inquiries of the eye, making synprøver and guide customers. In the program, you must go through a series of courses where you learn about both the methods that are being used in practice, but also the theoretical. There are lessons in particular low vision lenses, contact lenses and spectacle lenses. Additionally, there are lessons in visual science where you learn about the system behind the visual structure. The program is divided into 7 semesters, and in its sole discretion internship in the process.

The two practice periods are periods of 6 months and 12 months. You will be a paid internship at an optician's business in the periods in question. All placements must be approved. You can also choose to get an internship in Norway or Sweden.
