Department of Arts and Cultural Studies provides a framework for international research and higher education from BA to PhD level in the fields of dance science, art history, literature, modern culture and culture, musicology, theater studies and visual culture.
At the department studied the various art forms and artistic practices, the history from antiquity until today. It also examines the arts interactions and relationship with key trends in culture and society in an international perspective.
Aims of the Department of Arts and Cultural Studies
The Department aims to provide research, dissemination and training of a high standard in a way that contributes to the deepening and actualization of the traditional art and cultural skills. At the same time, the department has the overall aim to create a framework for the development of new knowledge and insight.
The Institute provides students with solid academic qualifications and flexible options for assembling their education. Thus they create a distinctive, individual competence profile, whether it stays within the known disciplines or combine Institute disciplines in new ways.
Dialog provide cohesion between research, dissemination and training
The institute focuses on the steady development of relations between research, communication and education. This is done through dialogue. Through dialogue with society, researchers mutual dialogue - locally and globally through teachers 'dialogue with the students and by the students' dialogue.
