Youth School in Ribe

In the small cozy village Vester Vedsted, outside Ribe, there is a youth school for young people between 16-19 years. We work daily to give our students good experiences, inspiration and values they can use in their lives. We live in a beautiful area that we use a lot, with one and a half kilometers to the beach and mudflats.
We offer a break to give young people time for reflection, learning and room for change. We are set in the world to drive the youth college. Here we will give our students a strong personal character, without grades and exam.

High ceilings and lots of space
We are a dynamic school in beautiful buildings from 1895. Additionally, we are the oldest youth school in Denmark, with more than 50 years old. Age makes us only stronger, and our hope is to be the most inclusive, innovative and inquisitive youth school in Denmark.

Our neighbor, the Wadden Sea, also characterizes who we are and how we conduct youth college - eternal forandrelige but with a clear horizon. We are in constant movement both with exciting trips out of the house, courses, study tours to Berlin and London, and lectures and events, but we always have the clear horizon and context for students' formation.

Fag, daily life and the life
We can house up to 81 students with the opportunity to stay in single room or double room. In 2008, we built a brand new student wing.
In addition, we have facilities like Gamer room, gym and idrætssal, and these are also used in our teaching, with our music rooms, design and art rooms, kitchen and outdoor room. We have exciting subjects that both challenge and expand students' perspective and horizon.

Going to the youth college is not just about the subjects, it is just as much about social and community. A stay at UHR is a pit stop in life - of celebration, speed and colors.
There is freedom with responsibility, and it means that we are trying to influence our students to become responsible young, democratic citizens. That one with a background here, getting ready to make decisions for their own lives, that one becomes an inquisitive young man with an attitude and a direction in life.
