Latin

Has been out of Latin in high school and loved you as you have never loved any other subject, then it is probably the most natural choice to take Latin at the university.

Latin is the basic language of the tribe for most of the northern Mediterranean. It has been used for many hundreds of years, and even in Denmark, we have used it. Many of the medical books and many theological books written in Latin. Latin is also still widely used in medicine, where it is quite reasonable to have a common language, so we understand each other across language barriers and borders.

Besides the language most used in medicine, so it is also used in ancient writings on art, philosophy, politics, etc.

Latin is the study of the Greco-Roman culture, history and language of Latin. The study is also referred to as classical philology at the University of Copenhagen. Latin include the entire ancient culture and you will become acquainted with everything from Roman philosophers like Cicero and Seneca to art and culture especially in terms of sculptures, music, temples, religion, social order and politics.

With Latin comes to short to study all the Greco-Roman period and you will see the influence of the period have had on our society today. The first year is teaching Latin and Greek. This is followed by subjects such as Ancient Culture, Roman History, Archeology and Art History, Latin poetry and other interesting subjects.

Danish A, English B, History B or History of Ideas B or Contemporary History B. A Greek and Latin A (Both levels can be achieved by introductory courses in connection with the bachelor program).
