History of art is first and foremost a studio with a theoretical approach. This means that you will not be trained as a performer but as observer, spectator and interpreter of all species of works from paintings, sculptures of photographs and films to highly topical and highly-visual media such as. graphic 3D presentations. Common to all the arts is that the design, form of expression, colors, shape, and all the characteristics helps to convey a message, subject to your interpretation. It is this scientific interpretation key that you learn in art history. You read intensively on art history, aesthetics and science itself completely from Antiquity to our time.
You will have a broad knowledge of western culture history and be able to place works of art in social context. The 3 most important skills you develop during the training is analytical attitude, critical interpretation and a historical knowledge of the art in our world. Art Histories hub
The main categories in the subject's tradition deals with architecture, painting and sculpture. But the art historical study will also focus on fields such as design, museology, photography and video, as well as mass cultural visual media.
