Kowloon

When it comes to finding a place to eat Asian food in Aarhus, there is one place that most people will think of quickly. It is Kowloon on Frederiksgade 78 and Banegårdsgade 33. There is both a larger restaurant and a smaller restaurant, where you can get authentic Asian food in both places.

Kowloon is an old trotter. Both the restaurant and the eatery have existed in Aarhus C since 1999, so for over 20 years they have been able to serve Asian food to both curious and interested guests.

The name comes from the vibrant Kowloon district of Hong Kong. Attempts have been made to bring the special atmosphere and food culture to Aarhus. Even if you are just sitting in Aarhus C, the food and atmosphere can feel as if you were sitting on a street corner in Hong Kong. If you walk past Kowloon on a regular evening, you will almost always be able to see people sitting inside and enjoying the Asian food.

The premises are also heavily inspired by Asia with colored lamps, orchids and the classic golden cat waving to the guests. It is not an exaggeration to say that you have taken a piece of Asia to Denmark.

The Asian cuisine is many things, and here they have taken inspiration from both the Chinese, Thai and Vietnamese cuisine. There is definitely something for everyone.

We love here at Studenterguiden, when you can get good food at a cheap price. You can do that at Kowloon, where you get rid of almost no money for a 2-course or 3-course menu. There you can choose between Thai, Vietnamese and Chinese dishes. There is therefore a good opportunity to mix and match a little.

If you want an idea of what the different kitchens can offer, you will find a quick quick guide here:

Chinese cuisine: It is very varied, where you both steam, fry and deep fry food. You focus on rice, noodles and tofu in your cooking, where you often fry beef or pork with a lot of vegetables. Chinese cuisine is therefore particularly known for its wok dishes.

Vietnamese cuisine: Vietnam uses many different herbs. Everything from lemongrass, coriander and ginger are important in making authentic Vietnamese food. In addition, you have many noodle soups, spring rolls and sandwiches that characterize Vietnamese cuisine.

Thai cuisine: Thai cuisine is known for its 5 flavors. Sweet, sour, strong, salty and bitter are mixed into a harmony in various rice dishes, salads and noodle soups. Pad Thai in particular is a dish that many know and love.

In addition to the restaurant, there is also the intimate eatery with room for about 20 people, where one has tried to compress the same experience into a slightly smaller place. So if you crave Asian food but need to get on quickly in the city, this is the place to go.

If you want to dream away to a big city in China or a beach in Thailand, go to Kowloon and get the whole experience. There is hardly an Asian dish that cannot be found on the menu. Here you will find everything your heart desires when it comes to Asian food.
