Japan Studies

Japan is a fascinating and confusing land. Here one finds democracy, military power, art, power, intrigue, violence, harmony, comics and heated toilet seats. Japan is a country far different from Denmark, but a country that has everything. If you've got a taste for its culture, history and language, then you are captivated by Japan and everything that goes with it.

In the Japanese study, you learn about the Japanese culture, history, social and of course the language.

Japan Studies is a study acting exclusively on the Rising Sun, Japan. Here you will learn first of all to communicate in Japanese - in writing and orally. You will during the study spend much time studying the Japanese language, so you learn to understand both Japanese and disseminate the contents of Japanese texts to a Danish audience.

You get to read all the text in the original language - via texts you get a first hand knowledge of all aspects of Japanese society, political situation, literature, history and popular culture. The first year of training is intensive language training and later in the studio introduced linguistic theory and more advanced texts.

You will not only have to deal you analyze Japanese texts grammatically and content, but also with language development and history. The study is also about the Japanese culture and intellectual history and political periods and events. Examples of possible studies here could be kejserdømmerne or Japan's role during WW2. You will also have the opportunity to get acquainted with Japanese families and working and popular culture for example. Japanese anime films and manga.

The way the study conducted in, among other things by means of tasks, exercises such as role playing and listening exercises executed in small groups of students. As an active student you will be able to achieve good Japanese knowledge of this form of study. The study divides frames with China Studies and Asian Studies. The three subjects have a joint program committee, consisting of students and organizes parties, bars and shows Asian films.

You can combine your Japanese studies with another subject. It could be economics, history, ethnography, dramaturgy, or something else entirely. In this way you create you your very own profile to suit the type of work you want to work with after graduation.
