As an archaeologist, you are studying our past from the material things that you find and uncover in your practical field work. Somewhat simplified, one can say that archeology is like diving into a bygone era, offering magnificent buildings as the pyramids of Egypt, the Hanging Gardens of Babylon, the Colossus of Rhodes, but also more mundane things like sites related to Stone Age villages.
Most recently, during metro construction in Copenhagen found many new and exciting discoveries that give Denmark a whole new story. So if you want a chance to change the course of history with new finds, then you throw yourself into prehistoric archeology.
It gives us a better understanding of where we come from, when the old well-preserved finds dug out, revealing the prehistory for us. Sometimes we must change our perception of how life was back then. There are for example found sophisticated equipment in the Greek archipelago, which dates back to the year 150 BC and not so its just the next 1000 years!
The things you as an archaeologist is to reveal, the results of man's life and work at a certain time in history, and from a thorough study, you can better understand their culture and behavior.
