Air traffic controller (Karup)

As air traffic controller in the Army you join a watchkeeping either in the tower at a small airport, or in the control center in Kastrup, where you will be cooperating with both civil and foreign colleagues.

To become an air traffic controller in the Army requires that you have both of the training to Sergeant and you also specialize air traffic controllers. The air traffic controller training is identical to the training for civil flyvelederm so you have the opportunity to work in civilian followed later.

The training
You start with the Defence basic education and continue from here on Armed Forces sergeant training. When you finish these courses can begin on the actual air traffic controller training. On the training for air traffic controllers will be trained in aircraft recognition, English, meteorology and radar learn. The program is highly concentrated and you should expect to spend much time on homework.

Once you've got the theory in place you must practice practice in a simulator and later in real air traffic. You need during training 3 times 8 weeks of placement and retraining in Wales.



expulsion
You can be deployed to international missions after graduation to air traffic controllers. It is usually with 6 months at a time. This will also be laid some months of training before they are sent.

GENERAL ADMISSION REQUIREMENTS

  • You are 18 years old
  • You are at least 155 cm. high.
  • You must have good health.
  • You must be declared fit for military service.

Finally, you must pass the education entrance exams, which include your judgment, your multitaskers and your ability to multitask will be put to the test.

SPECIAL ENTRY REQUIREMENTS FOR THIS TRAINING

  • Normally, applicants under 30 years would be preferred for this training.
  • You should have completed upper secondary education.
  • You must have good knowledge of English.
  • You must be acceptable to the security level "Secret".
  • Additionally, you must have full color vision and good vision, normal visual acuity (min. 6/6) in both eyes, and any glasses or contact lenses must be within +/- 3 diopter strength. You must not have undergone laser vision correction surgery.
