There is almost nothing better than a good burger with pom-fries and a cola for when you have had a long day at the studio or just have a hangover. But when Odense C has a lot of places to go when the hunger strikes, it can be difficult to choose. That's why you can pass the popular Downtown on Skibhusvej 74b, where you can get freshly baked sandwiches and burgers for all tastes.  

The burger and sandwich bar opened in winter 2018, where the odenseans could get sandwiches and burgers inspired by American and Nordic cuisine. Dicle Cici is the owner behind, and was only 20 years old when she chose to open the bar. Before turning into Downtown , it was called The Burger Station, as only burgers were served.  

But today, delicious sandwiches are also served, which can make any sandwich lover happy. Since its opening, Downtown has been a popular spot, which has attracted neighborhood odenseans but also outsiders. And the popularity has not gone unnoticed, as Downtown has been nominated for Odense's Best Burger among other popular competitors.  

The iconic Green Downtown sign can be seen in the Skibhus district and is not far from the old Bazar Funen if you are not familiar with the neighborhood. But the area is almost a small town in its own right. In the Skibhus neighborhood, you can shop, be cut, buy flowers, and then barely a burger or sandwich at Downtown . There is always a good atmosphere and many people, so the burger bar is also a nice place to have lunch or dinner.  

While American burgers and sandwiches may sound like your typical hangover food, it's much more than that. The American and Nordic cuisine has been merged to give you an American cheeseburger, but also a more Nordic salmon sandwich. At the same time, everything is made from scratch, from the bread to the steak. Your hangover food will be upgraded to a higher level when you shop at Downtown, as the food is homemade and with a love for burgers.  

At Downtown you will find a really wide menu. You can Get a classic cheeseburger or a chicken burger, which is often the first choice for many. They also offer the house favorite or their own Downtown burger, the latter of which is a classic burger with minced beef, but the icing on the cake is a mirror egg on top. Their meat is 100% Danish cattle and the burger buns are freshly baked, so it could hardly be more tempting.  

Are you more into freshly baked sandwiches, there are only good things to choose from here. You can get their popular chicken sandwich or spicy tuna sandwich with a completely homemade tuna mousse. If you like the green rather than the meat, there are also exciting options for the vegetarian, so it is not just bread with a boring salad.  

You can get both burger and sandwich as a menu of French fries and sodas, hshow you're extra hungry. And don't worry, even if all this sounds delicious, it doesn't mean it costs a fortune. There are reasonable prices for you who are at SU, so you can afford to dine out with friends without skipping the purse.  

It's almost dangerous that we recommend Downtown, because once you've tasted one of their sandwiches or burgers, it's hard not to come back. There is super good service by the sweet employees, so you are guaranteed a good experience. With the student-friendly prices, there is almost no excuse not to go there!
