The Funen Opera

The Funen Opera presents three annual performances and is your chance to get a different and exciting cultural experience in Odense. The Funen Opera is located in Teaterhuset along with four theaters: Børneteatret Skægspire, the Funen Opera, Momentum and Ingrid Kristensen & Co. (Dance Theatre). The Funen Opera set up opera performances, a unique genre of music and theater, where opera singers are accompanied by an orchestra which can be a small ensemble or a large symphony orchestra. It includes many elements of opera, including singing, acting, dancing and content of the different settings ranging from drama, love of comedy and tragic stories. The Funen Opera has a number of interesting creations as Houdini the Great erected by actor Erik Clausen, the comic Don Pasquale, as well as Denmark premiere of Philip Glass' famous The Fall of the House of Usher inspired by an Edgar Allan Poe short story. Besides opera then arranges the Funen Opera lectures and "on-behind-the-scenes" events where you have the opportunity to get close to the actors and get a unique insight into the world of opera.
