Dance Studies is a fun and different graduate program that blends many dance forms with your creative abilities. Are you studying dance science you get close to many popular and artistic dance forms from around the world. You learn naturally itself to dance certain dances practical, but beside you also learn to understand what is behind the phenomenon of dance as artistic expression. In addition, you gain the skills to teach and communicate your knowledge to others. Then you toward a different, but very exciting Master's degree with a major practical aspect, so chalk dancing shoes and get out of it!
Dance Studies covers traditional subcategories of dance history, dance anthropology and danseetnologi. With these categories, you can explore many dance forms from around the world through the years.
Teacher Inger Damsholt has since 2007 been part of the international research group 'Dance in Nordic Spaces', which has made studies that show how dance has developed in the north and how it is influenced by dance outside.
The course is divided into:
- Intimacy Dance of contemporaries
- Scenic dance contemporaries
- Dance History Basic Course
- Dance and Cultural Theory
- Dance Management with improvisation and choreography
Inger Damsholt focuses on two things in education as the main projects. Togetherness Dance in Denmark and the Nordic region after 1950 and Koreomusikalske relationships.
The theoretical part of the training is fairly large and gives students a grounding in the methods used in studies of togetherness dance to uncover dance meaning, function and structure. There is particular emphasis on dance in Denmark (such as clubbing, salsa, tango, lindy hop, folk dance).
Job Opportunities
You will be qualified to practice, improvise, choreographing and directing both theatrical and participatory dances such as tango, hip-hop, salsa, modern dance, folk dance, ballet and line dancing.
Related student jobs
You can work as a choreographer and dance director of a dance team or as a teacher in an evening class or youth school.
