Biochemistry is also called Medicinal Chemistry at Aarhus University and has received an additional curly tail at the University of Odense named Biochemistry and Molecular Biology.

So if you are you interested in chemistry and biology, you can make a biochemistry course work with a perfect blend of both areas.

During the three years you take the training you will be allowed to perform exciting experiments both in the biochemical and molecular biology. You will help to develop and test some products that can be used to treat infections, etc.

The program is research-based with a focus on theory and experiments, as well as the practical execution. Moreover, you will get professional skills in mathematics, statistics and physics. These skills will help sharpen your understanding of biochemistry principles and application.

With a BSc in Biochemistry, you can perform many positions in both private and public companies.

The program is set to 3 years of full-time study, corresponding to 180 ECTS.

At the end of your training you need to write a thesis, at the same time can be seen as an approach to your future dream job or training as a candidate. The thesis is prepared externally from a research center such as an industrial laboratory or hospital.


Job Opportunities

You can seek employment in biochemical, bioteknologiske- and pharmaceutical companies. Chances for employment are significantly greater after you have taken the master's program in Biochemistry.



Special admission requirements

Danish A, English: B, Mathematics A, (Physics: A + Chemistry: B) or (Physics: B + Chemistry: A).

Access to the Bachelor's degree in pharmaceutical chemistry at the University of Aarhus requires an upper secondary education with mathematics-physics-chemistry at either opening or ABA-level or mathematics-physics-biotechnology at AAA level and Danish at A level and English at B level.
