Bådcafé

When you go for a walk along Marselisborg Harbor, you are greeted by countless boats and a beautiful view of the sea. If you take a closer look at one of the boats, you can see the café Bådcafé, which has the address Marselisborg Havnevej 54. The boat is the old Endelave ferry Sorte Louis, which today has become a really nice café.

It was in 2015 that Preben Hald and Tina Steen together with their three children got the good idea to open a café in Marselisborg Harbor. At first it was the ship Albatros, but later they bought the Endelave ferry, Black Louis from 1950, which has sailed far and wide. Since January 2016, when the ship arrived at Marselisborg Harbor, the ferry has functioned as a boat café right by the pier, where you can enjoy something to eat and drink with a nice view of the sea.

Apart from the fact that the café is charming on the outside, the decor inside is also charming. When the weather is right, you can also sit outside where there is plenty of space.

There is something to suggest that the people of Aarhus are a big fan of the boat café. In 2017, the café won the AOA award as the City's Best Café, so the good food and good atmosphere have gone straight to the hearts of the people of Aarhus.

At the café you can have lunch, dinner and brunch. For lunch you can e.g. get their ship plank where you get two kinds of cold cuts, cheese, fish meatballs and two dishes that the chef decides. If you are in the mood for fish, now that you are sitting by the harbor, you can buy willow-yourself prawns with aioli.

For dinner you can choose between 1, 2, 3 or 4 dishes at a very nice price. Of course there is fish on the menu, but you can also get veal or rooster breast as a main course. When dessert hunger strikes, you can choose from creme brulee, profiteroles or cheeses. It's not because the menu is filled with a lot of different dishes. One has chosen to keep it simple, which in reality is to their advantage. The dishes you then choose will taste extra good, as it really puts time and love into it.

If you come to the boat café on a random weekend, you may come across their cocktail bar at the top of the café. Here you can be served a lot of delicious and exciting cocktails by Erik and Captain Preben, who stand to be bartenders. If you arrive early, you can even reach their Happy Hour, which is worth gold for a student.

If you go up a lot in the surroundings when you go out to eat, you have to stop by Bådcafé in Marselisborg Harbor. It is a very special experience to eat on the boat and is a bit different than a regular restaurant. You are at least guaranteed a cozy evening with a good view and good atmosphere when you go to Bådcafé.
