What made Egypt the mighty kingdom that was? And why and how it lost its power?
These questions may be some among many you ask yourself and the best way to find out is by taking the education Egyptology.
Egyptology is the study of Egyptian history dating back to the cradle of civilization for the high tech world we live in today. In ancient Egypt was a world power that is dominating the Middle East region and at the same time, Egypt was an advanced and developed society in comparison with the rest of the world. Even to this day argue researchers and archaeologists about the pyramids origin and how it is managed Egyptians to produce such magnificent edifices with the datidige limited technology. Egyptology is a humanistic subjects which aims to uncover the curtain of mystery that still hangs over the ancient civilization.
You will get acquainted with disciplines such as archeology, history, religion, social sciences, linguistics, literature, art and more. Many of the texts and sources you work with is historical in character, and that means you get direct insight into a completely different mindset and outlook on life than we have today. Language research is concentrated as middelægyptisk and you learn to translate the original texts on a variety of topics. In the last years of the course you have the opportunity to choose among the electives offered and include topics that interest just you.
When you enroll in the study, it is good to have some knowledge of languages in addition to the interest in the Egyptian culture, ancient mysticism and pyramids and their scripts: hieroglyphics.
When you learn to translate some writings that are over 5000 years old it requires a little patience with understanding when things may not completely written then as now. (Even in the translated version)
