Visual Culture is a 2-year Master's program that focuses on image theory and the development of the visual medium from the middle of the last century until today. Visual Culture may be the classic image as we know it from Van Gogh, Salvador Dali and Asgar Jorn, but it can also be a digital photograph as the image of "Tank Man " (the unknown protesters in Tiananmen Square in China in 1989 defied the advance of government tanks by standing in the way) or the gruesome images from the genocide in Rwanda that wiped out an entire people and destroyed a generation.
You learn to put pictures as works of art in a social context and understand the historical, social and cultural perspectives that are accountable. The program is strictly theoretical and you learn not to create visual art.
Visual Culture is an exciting education, whose academic content has an interdisciplinary character. This means that you as a student at the Visual Culture subjects primarily of humanistic touch, but also a little theory, which draw support from the natural sciences. Specifically, as is all visual culture of visual phenomena, as well as the location and significance of these phenomena have in our society.
The period of time as the study focuses on is from 1945 until today.
