The Laundromat

The Laundromat is the cafe, where you can take a cup of coffee while you wash your clothes. A really good idea, especially for Copenhagen, which occurred in 2004. There are many smaller apartments in Copenhagen, which has space for a washing machine, so there is always a need to take in laundry. There are also many laundries in Copenhagen, but there are very few places they have a cafe attached. But why not take a cup of coffee or cocoa, browse the Web or read a book while waiting for the laundry is finished?

The concept has become so popular that opened a total of three cafes in Copenhagen and one in Iceland. Besides that you can pick up a delicious burger or salad. It is also a very child-friendly cafe where you can sit and breastfeed and where children can get pancakes or fish & chips. The café's interior is in typical 60s and 70s style with chic orange lamps, wooden tables and green or red leather chairs (depending on which one of the cafes you have gone into), like washing machines also have the same color as the chairs. Additionally, there are lots of pictures on the walls, as well as topographic map of Scandinavia.

You can play many kinds of card games, chess, Yahtzee and Backgammon. Furthermore, there is a play area for children in the cafés of Østerbro, Frederiksberg and in Reykjavik. The Laundromat is a hot spot where you can not book a table, but if you come in due time you can get a space both in the washing machine and the coffee shop.
