Actor training at the National Theatre School lasts four years. At the two-year basic course, you will learn as a student the basics actor craft through classes in speech, song and movement. In the shorter and longer production process teaches you to improvise, analyze, develop and work with a character and role, and the practical work is complemented with theoretical teaching. Later immerses and you will specialize academically and artistically on the two-year superstructure through more demanding roles and great variation in expression, forms and types of drama from classical to modern.

Additionally, you create a series of performances and practical training at a professional theater. You work methodically acting credibility. One of the main starting points are the so-called psycho-physical method where the role of the work focuses on the physical and psychological element in the depiction of a complex character. The students will also meet other working methods, for example, the physical and visual, the material for a show is based on, for example a theme, a place, a space or an image. Actors from the National Theatre School can work versatile with their subjects in both traditional and experimented performances, like they get a wide media training.

Actor training is largely practical and students learn through practical exercises and tasks of increasing difficulty. Their education will be tested in small and big performances at school, and their professional development will be assessed in the evaluation interviews several times a year. Actor program has no traditional examinations.


Job Opportunities

The actor's job is to create living people within a dramatic context using text, body, voice, language, imagination, empathy, musicality and knowledge. Actors working with theater, film, advertising, television and radio drama.
