Restaurant Valdemar

In the center of Kolding, near the Castle Lake and the town hall, is a small gem serving Nordic and European food. The little gem is Restaurant Valdemar on Adelgade 2, where you cook from scratch from fresh ingredients.

The restaurant's premises opened in 2014 and is a sister restaurant to Café Løverodde. It is the host couple from the café who have taken over the premises. The host couple has a son named Valdemar, and therefore it was natural that the son and the restaurant should share the same name. The owners themselves have stated that they do not want to be a café with burgers and nachos, and instead it is a lunch and dinner restaurant where high quality food is served.

From the outside, the restaurant looks almost majestic with the words 'Restaurant Valdemar' painted in gold. But when you enter, you are quickly greeted by a friendly and relaxed atmosphere. The food is aesthetically served on the finest plates, so I wonder if you should post a little on Instagram when you are at the restaurant.

You draw inspiration from the Nordic and European cuisine, so here you get a little of everything when it comes to food. The menu changes from season to season, as you, among other things. is based on seasonal ingredients, but there are some dishes that go again.

From 11: 30-16: 00 on weekdays and weekends you can e.g. puncture their open sandwiches, which are little more than just open sandwiches. You can get everything from pan-fried plaice fillet and remoulade to stirred tartar with pickled onions and raw egg yolk on top. It can only be recommended that you order two pieces, so you can try a little different.

If you want to try a classic burger, they have Valdemar's Burger with steak, cheese and bacon, served with roasted potatoes and aioli. If you are a vegetarian or more into chicken, it is possible to order it.

After kl. 17 you have the opportunity to try a three-course menu, where you can, among other things. get a steak of Beef Striploin with homemade fritters for. For dessert you can e.g. enjoy their dessert “Københavnerstang”, which is pickled pineapple with fresh orange, vanilla ice cream and pineapple sorbet.

Restaurant Valdemar is a place with a cozy atmosphere and food a little out of the ordinary. If you want to pamper the family a bit or go out and eat with your girlfriend, this is an obvious place that is good for both the taste buds and the wallet.
