When Columbus discovered America, Portugal was one of the world's great powers. It was the Portuguese and Spaniards who fought to conquer most countries in emerging continents westward.
Portugal had the honor of Brazil and Spain were most other countries in South and Central America. Also, the African continent was visited by the Portuguese, and in Angola and Mozambique they speak still Portuguese. Portuguese is still one of the world's 10 most spoken language.
The study in Portuguese is a study of the language itself and simultaneously the countries where Portuguese is spoken as a primary language. The Portuguese language has similarities with Spanish and you will find that the two languages have some common words and concepts.
Portuguese is spoken in quite a few countries the world over since the language was spread by the Portuguese colonial era. Countries in Asia, Africa and especially South America have Portuguese as their national language. In the program, you will learn to speak, read and write Portuguese and simultaneously studying historical, cultural, religious, political, economic conditions in the Portuguese-speaking countries.
Especially the religious aspect has much to say in the Portuguese colonial countries, making it very appropriate to take a subsidiary subject either has with religion / theology or society / culture to do.
If you choose Portuguese to become better at communicating in a language other than the usual language in Denmark, you have great opportunities to be employed by a company that has cooperation with Portugal or Brazil.
Also in sport is Portuguese big as many of the best footballers from Brazil.
