meteorology

The weather has always been a topic of conversation that people could talk about. If you had nothing to say, so you could always bring weather on the pitch. And if there is something we love to complain about, it's the weather.

So if you want to be one of the poor weather forecasters on TV that always gets scolding of predicting the weather "as the wind blows", so feel free to take training as a meteorologist.

Meteorology is the study of the atmosphere around our planet, so we can predict anything meaningful about the weather and future weather processes. Weather Prophets as Henrik Voldborg and Jesper Theilgaard trained meteorologists and are you interested also for the weather events that are so important for our small planet, the Meteorology may be for you. The subjects of the training is in mathematics, physics, geophysics, climate complemented by the courses you choose.

Meteorologists are taught about the weather and temperature changes and how it has an impact on nature and society.

As the climate changes, it is more and more relevant with meteorologists can predict when there will be a big storm or a flood in little Denmark. There are also more and more focus on how much ice cap melts.

It has relevance to how urban planning should be prepared, so we are not surprised that our sewage systems can not keep up by a heavy rain, or that we do not build homes for close to shore or quietly located in a city whose sea decides to rise by one meter, thus laying the living room under water.

Meteorologists are also exploring the effects of pollution and climate change by algorithms and numerical methods. It also focuses much of wind energy in collaboration with DTU.

Job Opportunities
