MT Højgaard is one of the leading construction company. MT Højgaard has 5,000 employees in Denmark and are constantly looking for students and graduates employees.

Our history

Throughout the ages, MT Højgaard designed, advised, built, renovated and brought a host of building projects in Denmark and abroad.

Our story starts just after WW1, when the two companies Monberg & Thorsen and Højgaard & Schultz had just been formed. Europe was still uneasy after the war, but in Denmark the reunification in 1920, the beginning of a national optimism. The technical basis for the two companies was the new age building technology "reinforced concrete".

2011

We deliver several major projects, including KPMG's new office building in Frederiksberg and new office buildings for DONG Energy in Gentofte.

The year offers many exciting construction projects both at home and abroad. In Norway, we are in the process of building Hardanger Bridge - Norway's largest suspension bridge in Greenland we keep topping-out ceremony in Nuuk Center , a new office and retail center, and our Mining Department is successful in drilling on the ice sheet.

In Denmark we install the first of a total of 111 foundations to a new offshore wind farm in the Kattegat; near Aarhus, we are building one new exhibition building for Moesgaard Museum; in Bagsvaerd we begin the construction of a new headquarters for Novo Nordisk, designed by Henning Larsen Architects, and in the Esbjerg Østhavn we begin to expand with a new wharf for the wind industry.

On the whole there will be during the year taken part sod on the projects we are working on in 2012. This is true of other swing bridge Odin bridge of Odense Canal, a new emergency ward of the regional hospital in Randers and a new city school in Frederikshavn that listed as OPS .

2010

In relation to the outside world, we have this year focus on reducing environmental impact. We introduce the energy calculator where customers can get an overview of the energy consumption of its building and put it in relation to the cost of any renovation.

2009

A good year. By keeping the focus on profitability achieved the best result in company history - despite the low activity and increasing price competition in Denmark.

The year included several exciting projects - including a suspension bridge across the Hardanger Fjord in Norway , which should be ready in 2013, Lemvig-Müller's new headquarters in Herlev and KPMG's new headquarters in Frederiksberg.

Many internal improvements were implemented and a new vision formulated: We will outperform industry standards through innovation and operational excellence - together with our customers.

At this year's Agromek agricultural exhibition won MT Højgaard award for a new field of cattle with a newly developed and patented environmental technology. The award was given to one of our newly developed housing concepts that benefit animals, people and the environment.

New branch offices opened in Randers and Slagelse, which is a continuation of the strategy to be locally present, so we feel for customers' challenges.

2008

Another year with a very satisfactory result. During the year we carried onewide range of facade and refurbishment projects across the country, won a new contract for wind turbine foundations in the sea off England for DONG, build a new administration center of the Great Belt, is building a large new timber yard for Stark in South Harbour and initiated our third PPP project, Ørstedskolen at Langeland .

In addition, we'll give it 4.5 km long M3 motorway section between Jægersborgvej and Klausdalsbrovej prematurely.

2007

Another year with a very high level of activity in which we achieve the best result in its history. Also on the working environment achieved our goal and we have renewed our safety certificate.

MT Højgaard's supply activities are nationwide.

Of the year's projects may Zoo's new savannah highlighted. Also the new elephant house , the architect Lord Norman Foster is behind and which has been highlighted as an architectural masterpiece, is among this year's prominent projects.

Another PPP project is initiated. It's the new Land Registration Court in Hobro . Other projects include, among others, Arena Fyn, a motorway bridge over the River Brande, a new town in Valby, industrial construction for Biogen Idec in Hillerød and a fish in Frederikshavn.

2006

Three new local offices going. MT Højgaard now has 15 local offices spread throughout Denmark - and in addition the head office in Copenhagen. We emphasize that we can solve any construction job and have good experience in offering our solutions both nationwide and locally. OPP project, Vildbjerg School submitted by the end of the year.

2005

Future housing concept is developed, and the first project will begin in Aalborg. Here are based MT Højgaard 69 rental apartments on Blegkilde Allé model Basisbo so ålborg prices have bespoke quality homes at very competitive prices.

MT Højgaard deliver the Landscape Channel in Ørestad. Channel, varying in width from six meters at its narrowest point to 25 meters at its widest and bind the great wilderness areas on Amager Common with the district Ørestad. The channel is Ørestadens longest and smooths the boundary between nature and city. Several places along the route have been built footbridges for pedestrians and cyclists and causeway bridges for cars.

MT Højgaard is building a new neighborhood in Holbaek and begin construction of Vildbjerg School for 700 pupils in Trehøje Municipality, Jutland. It is Denmark's first and only PPP project. PPP company Vildbjerg School consists of MT Højgaard, Dan-Ejendomme and Bank DnB NORD and aims to build Vildbjerg School and drive it - to the year 2036. PPP stands for Public Private Partnership , and the new structure.

MT Højgaard begins construction of a district heating tunnel - the largest building in Copenhagen since the Copenhagen metro. District heating tunnel connects Amager plant with district heating grid in central Copenhagen, and the contract includes the construction of almost four km bored tunnel and three shafts.

2004

MT Højgaard based Field's - Scandinavia's largest shopping center - in Ørestad. Thus we turn our position as a contractor to shopping malls. We have also built shopping centers in Helsingor, Hillerod, Freedom and Ishøj and many grocery stores around the country.

Coastal protection is a core competence in MT H ø jgaard, and it is sent for on the other side of the world. In 2004, we carry a very large coastal protection task in Sri Lanka, like we did in 1987-89 and 1990-93 gets further international recognition consortium. We have also secured the coast of Lebanon and the Maldives , the Faroe Islands and Denmark.

2003

For Danmarks Radio, we undertake in partnering closing the contract of 32,000 m² news studios in the new DR-by in Ørestad. We shall also begin the concert hall complex concrete and steel structures . We are helping to develop a concept for how the 'floating' concert hall with 1,800 seats building technology can be built and develops new design expression of concrete surfaces in collaboration with the architect, Jean Nouvel.

2002

We design a large part of Ørestad, where we will build Field's , Ferring's laboratory, City Point office building and a number of residential buildings.

In the area around Sdr. Freeport, Copenhagen, we are simultaneously started to build housing, company domiciles, refurbish warehouses, construction of new railway track, a ferry terminal and roads and solve a major sewer conversion task.

We stand for the construction of Hotel Marriott International in Copenhagen that we deliver on a turnkey. In close collaboration with SEAS we install 2,000 km of overhead electric cables in South Zealand, Lolland-Falster and Mon.

2001

On May 2, 2001, Monberg & Thorsen and Højgaard & Schultz to join forces to MT Højgaard A / S - thus becoming Denmark's largest construction company. MT Højgaard will have new joint headquarters in Søborg, Copenhagen - which we build. MT Højgaard is in this context also new common logo and identity - a platform for an exciting development well into the future.

MT Højgaard ORM systems Overflow Regulation Module wins EU environmental award 2001. When a basin overflows - what all pools does under heavy rain - it is the purer water that runs out in nature while the dirty water goes to the treatment plant . Therefore, our ORM plant more environmentally friendly than traditional wastewater basins.

2000

On Middlegrunden behave MT Højgaard foundations for 20 wind turbines with a total length of 3.4 kilometers. Since then we have specialized in wind turbine foundations we have built off shore, both in Denmark and abroad.

Monberg & Thorsen and Højgaard & Schultz have jointly built the Oresund Bridge . Here was the great brosamarbejde between the two companies for real. The connection was completed earlier than expected, and the inauguration took place on 1 July this year.

1993 - 1996

Monberg & Thorsen and Højgaard & Schultz helped build parts of the Great Belt Link. Monberg & Thorsen participated in a consortium that conducted the bored rail tunnel from Halskov to Sprogø while Højgaard & Schultz participated in a consortium that conducted compound's West Bridge from Sprogø to Knud head.

1984

Monberg & Thorsen and Højgaard & Schultz jointly construct the Farø . The bridges consist of a low bridge and elevated bridge with a total length of 3322 meters. Højgaard & Schultz built the building, including the characteristic pylons. Monberg & Thorsen stood for the superstructure. South bridge is a cable-stayed bridge with a span of up to 290 meters at its longest point.

1952

Danish Arctic Contractors, known today as Greenland Contractors, was established as a partnership of seven construction companies. Monberg & Thorsen and Højgaard & Schultz represented the two. The work was mainly concentrated around the Thule Air Base, Greenland.

Højgaard & Schultz is contractor on the northern towers in Bellahøj, who stood ready to move in the same year.Bellahøj was among the first prefabricated buildings in Denmark. We built for a new system where we precast elements on the construction site. The system was developed by the architect Kall and was therefore called Kallton system. The houses had a vision of light and air, and represented the most modern in interior design and consisted total of 28 tower blocks on 9-13 floors - a total of 1,300 apartments.

1935

The construction of the Little Belt Bridge completed this year. Both of Monberg & Thorsen and Højgaard & Schultz, this task was the start of a number of other known and demanding projects. It took seven years to complete the Little Belt Bridge.

1935

Establishment of the port of Gdynia. After a number of smaller contracts in Denmark, Højgaard & Schultz one of Europe's largest construction: the construction of the port of Gdynia, Poland. The work went on for almost 10 years - from 1925 -1935. And it led to many new projects both internationally and nationally.

1919

Axel Monberg and Ejnar Thorsen establish the contracting company Monberg & Thorsen.

1918

Sven Schultz and Knud Højgaard establish the contracting company Højgaard & Schultz.
