Geophysics

Geophysicists popular terms throughout the world as his playground. It is understood that a geophysicist dealing with mapping of the earth and its underground ocean deep blue and the atmosphere around our planet. Geophysics is therefore a science, dealing intensively with the soil genesis and the physical theories that attempt to explain all kinds of development earth has undergone since its genesis. The first year of training as a geophysicist follow subjects like math and physics, with levels gradually raised and leads you further into an exciting scientific world. Already from your second year you can supplement your compulsory courses with an elective. The teaching methods are lectures in a large auditorium where up to 200 students are taught at a time. There is assigned a tutor for each team that provides for repeating classes for a small team through mathematical calculations and more detailed substance. Later in the process, also include exercises and experiments in a lab, so practical skills practiced.

Some of the tasks you may experience as a geophysicist is among others to go to Greenland and drill an ice core out of the ice cap. On the way you can check what the climate was for many years.

So it is a very time-relevant education due. The climate change that is. You can among other things also calculate how fast sea levels when you see how fast the ice is melting in Greenland.

Within Geophysics you can specialize in:

- Atmospheric Physics (course description come May 1, 2016)
- Physical Oceanography (course description come May 1, 2016)
- Earth and the terrestrial planets
- Ice and Climate
