The Humanities BSc

The Humanities Bachelor's degree is characterized by being an education that comes close to human beings and their development history viewed from a cultural perspective. Humanities is popularly said the "soft " scientific disciplines in relation to the natural and social sciences.

Humanities focuses on the cultural settings and contexts that we humans act and express ourselves in. Therefore, humanities elements such as culture, history, language, art, philosophy, psychology, literature, media studies, pedagogy, communication, leadership, and many more of the little soft scientific disciplines. When you start the Humanities Bachelor's degree, you will be greeted with a host of exciting challenges that require you to use your analytical skills to analyze and solve problems. The 3 years as the Humanities Bachelor goods is also in many ways an introduction to the scientific methods and ways of thinking that are specific to humanities disciplines.

Study content The amount of work that you undertake in the first 4 semesters of the Bachelor of Humanities, has a clear focus on project writing and participation in courses. It is completely up to you to manage your study time and no one is looking over your shoulder while you study. During the four semesters as the Humanities Bachelor items, there are 4 elements that are a kind of guiding principle in the projects you write and the courses you follow. Subjectivity and Learning, which is about pedagogical and psychological theories with sociological and cultural theoretical elements. That is to say issues such as identity, learning, socialization, power, sex, lifestyle, ethnicity and the relationship between the individual and society. Science and Philosophy, which is about what science, knowledge, truth, reality and objectivity. But also for example ethics, philosophy of law, political philosophy and aesthetics.

History and Culture, which highlights sciences such as history, anthropology, media studies and cultural studies. This means topics such as the relationship between society and the individual, culture and nature, past and present, tradition and change. Text and Character, which is about sign systems and how they produce text forms as fiction, films, exhibitions and television broadcasts. The dimension includes the disciplines literature, argument analysis, language theory, billedsemiotik, film and media theory.

During the Humanities Bachelor's degree, you must develop four projects that you need to be shared with about 5-7 of your fellow students. I will have a supervisor who will assist with advice for projects. The issues that your group formulate and work with is completely optional, just there is a link to a humanistic element. In addition to project work, you must first year complete four compulsory basic courses that introduce the four humanistic dimensions

In the second year you alongside project work implement four self-selected special courses each of which provides a deeper insight into humanistic methods, theories and issues. In addition, introduces and prepares special courses you to the further studies on specialized subjects. Some of the humanities, you can choose from the program are: Danish, Culture and Language Studies, English, German, French, History, Philosophy and Science, Education and training Studies, Psychology, Communication, Journalism and Performance Design.
