Bandagist is one of the longest bachelor programs that exist, as it is 5½ years long, where a normal professional program is 3½ years. However this is due to the last two years is a rotation system, where you get into the paid service and get tested your knowledge of.
The first 3½ years of the course consists of six years of primary education and three years of training as orthopedic engineer.
Even though the program has its basis in Aarhus, then takes the 3 years in Jönköping in Sweden.
On truss program, you learn to make prosthetic, orthopedic and other aids.
You get to work with many different people with disabilities who need these aids, so with the technical knowledge about the products it is a good idea to have some interest in the field compared to familiarize themselves with the patients' situation .
In the study, you will be taught the craft, and throughout the human anatomy. The practical experience you need to build during the study, you get in the two years where you are in the internship.
It is a very technical subjects, which work in many different materials. Including wood, plastic, leather, plaster, textiles and metal. You must be able to draw sketches of a prosthesis, since each prosthesis is unique and must be produced specifically for the individual. Therefore, you will also need to learn to draw in the program AutoCad. You can say that you will be a mixture of an architect, engineering and healthcare.
Before the end of the training and just before rota starts is an internship of 10 weeks. Here you can take internships in both Denmark and Sweden. The school is happy to help find internships.
Job opportunities as truss found in a BANDAGERI. They are mostly private and independent companies. For the most part done the work itself as a truss in bandage Ministry, but you can also work in hospitals, in institutions or in private homes in the patient.
Special admission requirements
You must have one of the following programs to apply for admission: Abitur, higher preparatory examination (hf), higher technical examination (HTX), higher commercial exam (HH), eux, a foreign or international secondary education in line with the Danish. Specific entry requirements : Mathematics, physics B, C English and either chemistry C or biotechnology A. the subjects must be passed with a minimum grade of 4 (according to the 7-point scale) as an average of annual and exam grades in the subjects.
The program is connected to the coordinated enrollment system (KOT), but you can also apply for admission by contacting the school directly. There are only recording in the winter. If there are more applicants than there are places available, those who are best qualified. The application deadline is December 1st. Courses start on February 1st.
