Wind Industry competition won by DTU students.

A new kind of corrosion protection of the foundations of offshore wind turbines, has given a group of students from DTU in first place in the competition "Creative Offshore Challenge."
On January 20, the winner was found and was awarded a special prize for innovation in the wind industry competition, and both rates fell to DTU students. The contest started about one year ago, and the goal is for the six teams that participated, was to come up with the best possible views on how the future of offshore wind turbines will look like. Prize for the best project fell three students from DTU's Wind Master training. Competition organization expects that several of the projects will form the basis for further studies in the wind industry. President Per C. Brown says in a press release: "It is a very strong and committed field of finalists who participated in the competition. It is relevant and innovative projects, which certainly has great potential to become reality out at sea and it strengthens our hope that in the future there will be researched and developed new offshore solutions in Denmark. Already now there is great interest in offshore, but we are also simultaneously need to continue to research new more cost-effective solutions so that we can be even better at exploiting the huge offshore potential. Therefore, it is only positive to see the wealth of ideas that we have been presented with in this competition. "The competition innovation prize also went to a group of DTU students. They had devised a completely new foundation for floating offshore wind turbines, and this project was judged to be the most innovative idea of ​​the 6 participating teams. In all, two teams from DTU, a team from the Engineering College of Copenhagen, a team from the Engineering College of Aarhus and two teams from Aalborg University.
