When the Danish TeamGym gentlemen must defend the European Championship gold in 2012 will be on Danish soil. Denmark has been given the hosting of the second official edition of the European Championships in TeamGym to be settled at the NRGi Arena in Aarhus.
EM in TeamGym 2012 will be on Danish soil. It was a fact after a meeting of the European gymnastics organization UEG in January 2011. The award was in competition with Iceland and the Czech Republic.
- We are very pleased that EM-hosting in 2012 lies with us. With the European Championships in TeamGym home we get a great opportunity to promote perhaps the most audience-friendly gymnastikart even broader and show how also in gymnastics can lift haltaget with an enthusiastic audience, says Flemming Knudsen, president of the Danish Gymnastics Federation.
In Aarhus looks forward to welcoming both gymnasts as the audience welcomed the NRGi Arena.
- I am pleased that Aarhus has once again been chosen to host an international sports event. It helps to maintain Aarhus as an international city and secure major sporting experiences for townspeople and visitors, says alderman Marc Perera Christensen.
- We look forward to creating the best possible framework for the European Championships in TeamGym and offer both gymnasts and hopefully a large crowd welcome in Aarhus, says Finn Lyck, event manager at Sport Aarhus Events.
At Sport Event Denmark is also looking excited about the upcoming European Championship that underpin the common strategy with the Danish Gymnastics Federation.
- We have targeted to create a continuous focus on gymnastics events in Denmark, and now it seems that the first pieces are in place. We have a world cup in trampoline in '11 and now a European Championship in TeamGym in '12, and has ambitions include a World Cup trampoline and tumbling in '15, says Lars Lundov, CEO of Sport Event Denmark.
