Safety and emergency preparedness in the educational institutions

Tragic school shootings in Finland and the United States have started a dialogue on how Danish educational institutions to prevent and deal with possible accidents and safety risks, including the risk of school shootings in Denmark. A guide is now ready.
The educational institutions are required to ensure that the training can be safe and healthy manner. According to the "Law on students 'and pupils' learning environment ". Now emits Ministry of Education concrete guidance on preventing and handling incidents and security threats. This includes respect for the educational institution's physical layout, definition of alert procedures and ensuring appropriate behavior during an emergency on campus. * Tips on how education institution informs the outside world and ensures any counseling for pupils, students, employees and relatives. "It is important that we create a framework for how to respond in a crisis situation. With this guide we put words on the actions that many already do, when they face an accident or risky situation. Now there is something concrete to relate to, "says Bertel Haarder. It is the Danish Centre of Educational Environment, which will provide practical guidance to educational institutions in matters related to the instructions on safety and emergency preparedness.
