Marlon Brando plays a middle-aged American widower who embarks on a slightly sadomasochistic relationship with a young French woman (Maria Schneider). The pair meet in an empty apartment somewhere in Paris and make a covenant which consists in never revealing their identity or let the outside world come between them. Last Tango in Paris is a very special film that involves many themes as sexsualitet, existentialism, the power relationship to other people and the loneliness that characterizes all of us.
