New study debunks the myth of teacher education by youth "plan B". 91 percent of the student teachers on the 2009 vintage had education as their top priority.
Teacher education has in recent years struggled with a reputation for not being the young first choice. If you ask the students to teacher training, it is a myth than a reality. A new study "Profile Description of the trainees 2009 vintage" from the Danish Evaluation Institute identifies the student teachers profile year 2009. Education Minister Tina Nedergaard is pleased with the outcome of the investigation. "The study debunks two negative myths about student teachers. First, it shows the students to be very targeted, and secondly, they do not see education as a dead end. There is good reason for that even more young people see teacher training as an education that provides great professional, personal and career benefits. The students also sees teacher training as an education with prospects. 90 percent imagines that they initially need training to teaching, but almost two out of three say they either now or later will use it as a springboard to further education.
