Conference on social entrepreneurship
Centre for Social Entrepreneurship at Roskilde University beats d. November 7, 2007 its doors for the first annual national conference on social entrepreneurship in Denmark. The conference, entitled Social Entrepreneurship in the 21st century, aims to draw a map of the social entrepreneurship nationally and internationally and to elucidate and debate the necessity of competence boost to organizations working with social development initiatives. The background to both the center and the conference is the upheaval that has taken place in the welfare state both in Denmark and in other European countries. A break-up as part puts civil society into the center of the welfare state development while also contributing to a higher degree of individual and local accountability.
Social entrepreneurship - what is it about?
Leading national and international experts will open the conference with a number of short presentations highlighting social entrepreneurship as one of the roads that the welfare state can follow in the coming year renewal process. It is inter alia Lars Hulgård which is the initiator of the Center for Social Entrepreneurship and bogaktuel with the publication "Social Contractors - a critical introduction". Furthermore, Jacques Defourny and Roger Spear respectively from the University of Liege in Belgium and the Open University in Britain, who besides being one of the leading researchers in the field are also founders of the European research network EMES, which does research in social entrepreneurship.
In a series of presentations allows scientists and social entrepreneurs body and soul to social entrepreneurship in private companies in the local area, and in connection with the integration, participation and education. The conference will conclude with tip worded and provocative dash up the four distinct personalities who have a range of experience and views on social entrepreneurship and social innovation. Bertelsen, Free Forum and the settlement, Jesper Fisker, National Board of Health and Elisabeth Flensted - Jensen of the International Academy for Education and Democracy. Lene Johansen from the Danish Radio and known from among others Deadline on DR2, moderated this session.
