Come on Christian 4.s Fencing School in Kolding
The Armoury-Communication recreates the summer holidays the robust environment in a fencing school at Christian 4.'s court in the early 1600s.
It was normal that fencing classes started at 7-8 years of age. Skills which fencer was important for young noble men in a time when weapons proficiency was a tool to promote career and where it was expected that young aristocratic men serving as officers when the king went to war. It was strictly forbidden to fight duels, and even in the worst case could be punished by death, it frequently happened that the young noble men defended their own, the family or a woman's honor by dueling.
It is free to participate in the fencing school when paid admission to the museum. Children and young people have free access to the museum. No registration.
