Majority in parliament for license discount for youth and students
A majority of parliamentary parties (Social Democrats, Left and Danish People's Party) is in favor of that study the possibility to give young people and students under 25 discount on the license. The parties have yet to agree on how a possible. discount to be introduced and how it will be financed.
Mogens Jensen, Medieordfører for the Social Democrats, says to Berlingske:
"These are groups that have an income that is much lower than typical workers' income. But it is also true for many young people and students who must find that the license represents a relatively large part of their income."
Liberal Alliance wants as the only party that license must be a subscription which you can select or deselect. Several youth organizations including the Socialist People's Party and the Social Democratic youth organizations suggest that the license can be paid by taxes.
Many do not want to pay the license
A recent survey conducted by TNS Gallup for Berlingske showed that 45% of all 18-35 year olds would opt license if they had the opportunity. The annual media license constitutes pt.2.436 kroner.
The license required by law to be paid by everyone who owns an appliance (eg. A television or mobile phone) that can receive radio and TV programs, including PCs connected to the Internet.
