Get more room for the economy
Students are a great time when you have time to immerse yourself in a subject while having plenty of time for your friends. But it's also a tough time because you want to do a lot of things in your spare time, but it's hard to afford it all.
These are the few that can live by their SU, and therefore complement almost all of their finances with extra money.
Get a study job
Obviously, of course, you get a study job, and that's also a good idea for many reasons. It is especially good if you can find a job that is relevant to what you are studying. However, it's not always that you're lucky, but there's nothing wrong with selling newspapers to afford to spend more on vacation.
Others do not like the idea of getting a job because they want to focus 100% on their studies, and that's also a whole fair point. But for the most part, it is nice to have a study job as it also gives you something else to think about.
Get student loans
Student loans are a widespread thing, as interest rates are so low and you have to pay back your student loan once you finish your education. It has the advantage that at the time you also earn money so it does not hit you so hard.
There is disagreement whether student loans are a good idea or not. On the one hand, student loans give you the opportunity to focus on your studies while still able to afford to experience the world. On the other hand, you may also get used to the extra money, and you do not think if you actually need them.
Normally there is a broad consensus that sms loans, merchandise etc. are a bad idea because the interest rate is higher. But they have the advantage that you are more aware that you have to pay them back and you borrow for the most part only once, for example. missing money for your next trip, but you know you're coming home and work. If you choose to use this type of loan, it is always a good idea to compare the different loans. It's easy and quick to do
Whichever type of loan you choose, you should always consider why you choose to borrow the money and if you can not afford it. This brings us to the last point.
Cut down on your expenses
Another option is of course that you do not do all the things that you associate with fun. Stopping to go to town and go on vacation. The only downside to it is that you hardly ever get the chance to travel as much as you have done in your study time.
So there are probably the few who have the opportunity or want to live on an SU only, and that's not something we would recommend. The best idea is clearly to find a study-relevant job, so you'll find out if you like working with what you're studying.
