One billion will secure more internships

5,000 extra traineeships must ensure that young people complete vocational training despite the economic crisis.
The government will now allocate one billion kroner to several internships, including school internships. The goal is to provide up to 5,000 extra traineeships in 2010. The government will seek parties to the globalization agreement agreed upon. Is proposed to create up to 3,000 additional school internships in 2010. At the same time the private and public employers held to their responsibility to educate young people, so the number of ordinary practical training also increased. Vocational schools to offer teaching in enterprises and complementary basic education proposed expanded in order that more young people complete vocational training. The economic downturn has meant that more young people seeking training. At the same time, companies enter into fewer internship agreements. It creates daily problems for young people wishing to start a business. In June 2009, there were more than 6,400 students who were looking for internship, equivalent to almost 50 percent more than in June 2008. Meanwhile, the number of training agreements decreased by 27 percent in the first half of 2009 compared to the first half of 2008.

Internship package includes among other things:

1 billion to placements: * It implies that there can be up to 5,000 extra traineeships in 2010, * including up to 3,000 additional school internships. * Negotiations with municipalities and regions to establish more internships. * The private employers must also shoulder their responsibilities in relation to train a new generation of young people. Bertel Haarder says: "The young people are in a difficult situation due to the economic crisis. Therefore, we propose extraordinary one billion crowns for urgent help for internship area. But the key is the long term, where both companies and the government must take responsibility for that trained workers when the crisis eases, "says Bertel Haarder. The government will later come up with an overall approach in relation to the group of young people under 18 who are not enrolled in secondary education and who do not have a steady employment.

Internship package follows internship packages from May and June 2009 which included the following:

267 million kroner to: * Expansion of school training by 70 percent - 1,500 additional seats in 2009 * premium of up to 16,000 kroner to companies that enter into an agreement for an internship * 30 million additional to vocational schools outreach to provide more places * Campaign to provide more places * Wage subsidies for eGU internships at 30 kroner per hour * the state has committed itself to 10 percent more apprenticeships These internship packages are implemented together with the parties behind the globalization agreement.
