Don Carlos takes place at the Spanish court in 1500, when Europe is torn in the struggle between Protestants and Catholics. Political power intrigue pervades Europe's most powerful royal family, the play portrays the world of power, lust and religious conflicts. What happens when politics and power are controlled by religion? It is one of the major issues to be addressed for the show, which still has its actualization in the day when Western societies try to maintain the strict separation between religion and politics. Don Carlos is heir to the Spanish throne, and the son of Philip the 2nd Don Carlos is loved by the people, but lack of respect from his father. Intrigues escalate when his father marries Don Carlos' beloved fiancee Princess Elisabeth. An exciting love triangle kicks off where Don Carlos up iles to consider his path to the throne, to govern the country. The play is a theater of the world's great classics that are effectively modernized by the acclaimed playwright Mike Poulton. The play is directed by Madeleine Røn Juul, and also has an impressive list to actors, where names like Soren Pilmark, Lark Winther, William Rosenberg, Peter Flyvholm and many others can be mentioned.
