One of the speakers at the theme day on home-school cooperation is a PhD researcher Karen Ida Dannesboe from the Danish School of Education. She finishes her Ph.D. on school-home collaboration this summer. Karen Ida Dannesboe indicate that the school must listen to and acknowledge the support that many parents give their children every day. She stresses that children often are nervous and do not think much about the upcoming school-home meetings. The researcher calls, therefore, that students be more involved in the ongoing communication between school and home and for example helps to develop newsletters and thus put words to their school, which is the focal point of the home-school cooperation. On the theme day, among others presentation by journalist Abdel Aziz Mahmoud, psychologist Basim Osman and author and Associate Professor Ulla Kofoed.

Facts: bilingual Task Force

Bilingual Task Force is a joint project between the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Refugee, Immigration and Integration. The aim is to raise bilingual pupils' academic skills in school, so they can then complete a secondary education. The Task Force advises municipalities and schools on the teaching of bilingual students, including teaching in Danish as a second language, school management of schools with bilingual students, organization of resources in the area, networking, home-school cooperation and the transitions to and from primary school. The Task Force and DR launched in March 2010 campaign Two languages ​​- one challenge. The campaign encourages all elementary schools to prepare a comprehensive plan for their teaching of bilingual students.
