Use your head as you move into traffic
We all remember how we as children were introduced to "safe traffic". Our parents cycled with us when we were riding the city for the first time, and primary school always made a big number of learning to get in traffic. We have learned how we cycle, just as it is learned that we must go over when it is red. However, human beings are so routine and habitual that they simply forget to think about when they get into traffic. We always count on others following the same rules as ourselves, but sometimes it happens that some do not comply with the traffic laws and / or an accident occurs.
For example, if you come to a bike and a car bounces into you in a right turn, you will be glad that you have secured a bicycle helmet.
You are no longer a child, you are a young student in a big city and should therefore take you some precautions, whether you're walking around the city on foot, on a motorcycle, moped or by bicycle or by car, both for your and for the safety of others.
For the walking
Be aware where you go. If you are walking on trails, keep in mind that cyclists and riders must also use the trail, and you are therefore more road users. Take care and give space to each other and go on the left side so you can see the cyclists driving towards you. If you go to the right side and a cyclist comes from behind, there is a great deal of irritation if you suddenly step aside, and in the worst case there may be an accident.
Should you be late home from town one day or out on a dark and cold winter day, please use reflexes. Put them on the clothes and the bag so that the reflections can be caught by the long-distance lights of the cars. It's not childish to use reflexes - it's wise.
To the cycling
A large fraction of the students in Denmark's study towns cycle. The bike is a good means of transport, but once again one people take too easily. It is important to have good cycling habits as they can save lives.
The cliché is of course that you need a bicycle helmet . When the accident is out, your head is at least protected.
Like walking, make yourself visible to other road users in the dark. Remember, therefore, bicycle lights - you can also get an ugly fine if this is not observed, so for your finances, this is a good precaution.
Too many cyclists use music in their ears, which reduces their ability to concentrate. This is far from positive, as the main thing in traffic is that you are constantly thoroughly informed by sideways and crossings. Therefore, drop the music into your ears and remove the phone from hand so you can give signs and mark your intention towards others in the traffic.
For you by car
When you get into traffic, keep your eyes on the road. Yes, it can be very fun to send a snap from the car, where you can see the number of kilometers per hour, but it completely removes your overview of traffic. Hopefully, you can also wait to reply your text until you reach a place where you can keep calm and quiet.
Most importantly, though, after a trip you do not take your car home. Ca. every 6 deaths lose life in alcohol accidents. Most people should not drink much alcohol before reaching the limit of 0.5 per cent of alcohol. If you are in doubt as to whether you have drunk too much, leave the car. The safest thing is that you leave the car at home if you know that you are some people who are going to enjoy yourself with alcohol.
