Students choose to stay abroad

About half of all students who choose to study abroad will not be returning home to Denmark again after 2 years. A study by Educational Support Agency has prepared.
Educational Support Agency conducted the study with figures from students who finished their education abroad in 2003. Here the figures show that 46% of students are still living abroad. The President of the Rectors' Conference, Jens Oddershede, SDU, call it "state-funded brain drain " and estimates that the figure will grow in the coming years because the government this year has made it possible to finance their foreign education with the taximeter, otherwise would have gone to a Danish university. Science Minister Helge Sander (V) does not believe that the SU Board's survey is disturbing. Sander points out that there are more students to Denmark. And he can not see any way around the new taxameterlov. "Denmark has no chance if we play offensively out. The new law on taximeter grant is one of the ways we will take globalization seriously " says Helge Sander, who is backed by Anders Geertsen, Director of the National Agency, a national authority internationaliseringer of education. "It is a generous scheme, but it is the right thing to do, it's a good way to tackle the global challenge. And although there are some who will, then it is not only negative. They are still good ambassadors of Denmark abroad "he said. Source: Altinget.dk
