Science Visitor Center to attract young people and their teachers

Society, industry and business 'cries' of educated young people with a science background. And the need will not diminish in future. But unfortunately, science interest declining in both elementary school as in high school and among student teachers in the country's seminaries. It must be done about this, says Industry Foundation and the University of Copenhagen. They thus together in a common project for young people and their teachers and creates physical framework for a visitor center at the University of Copenhagen in connection with the upcoming new construction Niels Bohr Science Park.
The project aims to create an environment where young people together with their teachers can 'put your fingers in science exciting and illuminating waters' in the company of top researchers and students. There are plenty of jobs waiting in industry and the remaining part of the business for educated youth with a scientific, mathematical or computational background. But it is not easy to generate interest in the subjects in primary and secondary. The same is true of the country's teacher training colleges, where only 6.3 percent of new trainees choose science as his major.

Tip-top modern

The development is very serious for the welfare state. It means that in the foreseeable future will be short of qualified, skilled and innovative labor in science subjects. Education, which otherwise will ensure us a solid place in the future in the international market in areas such as high performance products and services. This is a major reason why there is created a tip-top modern visitor center in the establishment of the future Niels Bohr Science Park at the University of Copenhagen. And with the aid of four million kroner from the Danish Industry Foundation is now possible to build the visitors' center. Mads Lebech, CEO. Director of Industry Foundation, says about the project and the prospects for Danish companies in this regard: - The Fund has joined the project because we believe that a visitors' center will reinforce the interaction between elementary, high schools on the one hand and the university on the other, and thereby help to get flMads Lebech, CEO. Director of the Industrial Fond.ere young people to consider a scientific study career. The visitor center is also a really great opportunity to raise the professionalism of both primary and secondary school students and by teachers. High professionalism and access to qualified labor, is precisely to ensure that the industry in the future remains competitive.

hottest research

Niels Bohr Science Park will play an important role in this regard when it was inaugurated in 2016. It will be built a total of 45,000 square meters with advanced laboratories, classrooms and research facilities for a total price of approximately 1.25 billion kr. On top of coming so construction of the visitor center. Here, students and teachers will be presented with the latest and hottest research. A visitor center will also provide an opportunity to establish personal contacts to researchers and students, and the opportunity to make practical experiments in collaboration with physicists, chemists, mathematicians and computer scientists. Dean Nils O. Andersen from The Faculty of Life Sciences at University of Copenhagen - The new physical framework for a visitor center is a fantastic gift for all the country's primary and secondary schools. With creative attempts and exciting lessons can we show the youth what the interest of science, technology and health can bring. Future key challenges for the next generation is available for here and now, whether it be in food, public health or the environment, says Dean Nils O. Andersen from The Faculty of Life Sciences at University of Copenhagen on cooperation with Industry Foundation. The daily work in the coming new building - on the border between Østerbro and Nørrebro - goes largely out of work across the mainstream scientific divisions. Something that visitors students and their teachers will also benefit from when the visitors center and the rest of the Niels Bohr Science Park is built completed in 2016. Source: KU
