New report on internationalization of education

A new report gives suggestions on how the international dimension of VET can be strengthened. Minister of Education welcomes the report.
Council for Internationalisation of Education has now published a report on how the internationalization of VET can be strengthened. The report titled "Vocational education with an international perspective " and contains 55 proposals to increase the international dimension in vocational training. Former rector of the Technical University of Denmark, Hans Peter Jensen, chairman of the council. "During two percent of young people in vocational training takes a study or training abroad. It is far too few in a time when there are so many international contexts, you have to relate to, "he says. Ministry of Education assesses the proposals and look at how the individual initiatives can best be supported. May 20 held Bertel Haarder a meeting with representatives of the Council. He greets the report welcome. "We must be more active and more young people in vocational training to seek school - and praktikop teams abroad. It is good that the Council for Internationalisation has put vocational training under the microscope and now comes with a number of suggestions on how we strengthen the internationalization, "says and calls on all actors in the vocational education system to take advantage of the many opportunities and schemes that already exist. The new law on vocational training assumes that all programs must have an international perspective, students gain knowledge of other countries' products and working methods, learning to collaborate across language and cultural differences and the like, which can strengthen their ability to cope in a work which is becoming increasingly international. Some VET has strong international traditions, while others have a very limited international content. Council of Internationalization of programs were created with effect from 1 January 2007. The Council advises the Minister of Science, Minister of Education and Minister of Culture to promote the internationalization of Danish education at all levels. Source: Ministry of Education
