All primary schools can speed to 14 December using the two new voluntary national test in Danish as a second language.

After a successful pilot in June 2012, the national test in Danish as a second language now launched in full scale. The tests examine students 'vocabulary, language and language as well as reading comprehension and serves as a tool for teachers, so they can get an overview of students' academic level. It is optional for schools will take advantage of the two new test, which they can take from today until 14 December.

The tests target 5 and 7. However, it can also be taken on the grade-level above and below. The school can choose the students to take the test up to three times, so the teachers then can follow the professional development over time

Under the pilot project back in June interest was great and it ended with 101 schools took advantage of the tests in the weeks leading up to the summer holidays. It gave positive feedback from pilot schools and from UNI-C is responsible for the technical operation of the system, which told that the tests work as they should

Part of the pilot schools reported that students have acquired higher results than expected. But it may be because the final outcome scale can only be calculated after a greater number of students taking the tests. It will be the earliest after the voluntary tests completed in the fall. The Ministry has prepared a publication with guidance on how teachers can prepare themselves, pupils and their parents on the tests. There is also information on how teachers can support students along the way and interpret the results.
