The Great Greek Amphitheater

The city of Side is about 2,000 years old and is thus one of the oldest cities in Turkey. It also means that here are lots of historical remains. Here are the Greek amphitheater whose remains can still be seen. An amphitheater is a kind of big tribune, where the gladiator struggle of the day was happening. At the amphitheater there was room for 15,000 spectators. Some of the seats are still intact and there is the possibility to move around among the seats. Besides that, you can see the remains of Apollos temple, which is a proud sign of the city. The remains date back to the city's origins about 2,000 years ago. The posts themselves remain and testify of a unique and sacred temple.
