Large increase in the number of training in municipalities and regions
Cities and regions have set up more than 3,000 extra traineeships in 2010. 2,500 additional apprenticeships created on social and health education - a historically high number.
Cities and regions in 2010, up more than 3000 extra training places compared to 2009. The increase has been particularly high in social and health education, which created approximately 2,500 additional seats. This means that municipalities and regions have more than fulfilled the oversized number of places in the social and health education. Furthermore, the municipalities and regions set up many extra seats for the other training, including basic vocational training (EGU). Especially in municipalities have been created significantly more training places in 2010. They have thus achieved the goal of the creation of at least 1,320 extra traineeships in addition to the already agreed-sized seats. Also regions have created their share of oversized places in the social and health education. The regions have also created about 200 additional internships, equivalent to almost two thirds of the target figure of 330 additional seats. Education Minister Troels Lund Poulsen welcomes the positive development in the municipalities and regions and the prospect of even more training places in 2011. "It's great that municipalities and regions have managed to increase the number of apprenticeships considerably in 2010. However, we must not forget that many young people still lack an internship. It is therefore encouraging that municipalities and regions have committed to increasing the number of training places further in 2011, creating at least 1,950 additional seats compared to the 2009 level, "says Troels Lund Poulsen, referring to the new agreements for 2011 the government has just signed with Denmark and Danish Regions. KL's chairman, Jan Trøjborg, said: "Local authorities have the respect of the agreement made a significant effort that many young people can get a qualification. There have never been so many students in the municipalities that now. And the authorities have even lifted a very big education job in a very difficult time. Now we only hope that the private sector will be able to get up several internships, "says KL's chairman, Jan Trøjborg. Danish Regions deputy chairman, Carl Holst, said: "I am delighted that we have created significantly more internships. There has been a lot of work in hospitals and other regional jobs. It's great in a period where we are because of the economic crisis many places have had to say goodbye to a part of the permanent staff, and where there is also made a huge effort to stick to a high activity level hospitals. The regions will in 2011 make a special effort to create more apprenticeships so that more young people can get an education, "says Carl Holst.
