Restaurant UMA

Japanese cuisine has really made its entrance in Denmark, and especially in Copenhagen you do not have to go far to find a sushi or ramen restaurant. A fusion restaurant that mixes Japanese cuisine with other world cuisines is Restaurant UMA on Nørre Farimagsgade 13.

The restaurant, formerly called Zuma, has existed for some years in the middle of Copenhagen. The goal was simple, namely to serve authentic Japanese food without making it too complicated. Too simple can be really tasty without compromising, and that is reflected in the restaurant.

There is a relaxed and formal atmosphere without it becoming too formal. But sometimes it can also be cool to feel a little nice on it. You can sit back in their leather sofas while getting good Japanese food made by the professional chefs. This is where you should go out to eat with the family if you are going to have an evening out of the ordinary.

It is a fusion restaurant, so even though sushi and ramen are in the center, the food is served with Nordic aesthetics on fine plates. It is a bit reminiscent of fine restaurants like Noma, which also focuses on Nordic cuisine. One respects the traditional Japanese cuisine and gives it just a twist by adding Nordic ingredients.

When it comes to good sushi, it has to be done properly. Therefore, only fresh ingredients such as fresh Danish fish are used. So this is not just any place to get your sushi, so it's about enjoying it when you're there.

It is very typical in Asia to share food with each other as the social aspect is important. Here you sit together and share a lot of dishes, and you take advantage of that at UMA. Their social dining menu consists of either 3, 6 or 8 servings, so you can sit and enjoy all sorts of different dishes. It can e.g. be smoked oyster croquette, glazed cod or steamed prawns, which are on the menu. A lot of different flavors and textures that you can be allowed to try in one night.

The menu often varies, but there are some classics to choose from. In addition, Restaurant UMA runs the concept "All You Can Eat", so for a reasonable price you can choose from all the sushi you can eat. This is a really good place to start if you are not familiar with sushi and want to try a little of each. For a student, it is also a really good place to get really full at a great price.

If you want to enjoy your sushi at home, the restaurant also brings out. You can therefore get miso soup, chicken skewers and various sushi from your comfortable sofa without having to move a meter.

When you leave UMA, it is not only the taste experience that you take with you. You also take the whole atmosphere and the special atmosphere that is when you share the joy of food together. It is therefore worth all the money and there is ample opportunity to try many different dishes.
