The latest internship statistics show that the previous three months reached almost 15,300 training agreements. This corresponds to a decrease of one percent compared to the same period last year. The number of internship seekers has increased significantly compared to last year at the same time.

In August 2012, reached almost 6,200 training agreements on vocational training. This is a decrease of 13 percent compared to the same time last year. There were a total of well 10.200 internship-seeking students at end-August 2012, which is an increase of 50 percent compared to August 2011. Of the internship seeker pupils were barely 4,600 in school end of August 2012, which is an increase of 33 percent compared to the same time last year. Moreover, there were 65 students who had not yet completed the waiting period before school training. All in all, so about 5,600 of the internship-seeking students outside school training after the waiting period, which is an increase of 71 percent compared to August 2011.

The number of internship seekers in August 2012 is 6 percent lower than in July 2012.

It is still too early to assess whether the sharp rise in internship seeker is a real trend, or something of the development is an expression of closer monitoring of schools in relation to the internship seeker and consequent better recording.

"There is a need for action"

Children and Education Christine Antorini is concerned: "The new praktikpladstal shows that there is need for action. Today Training Committee completed the first part of their work and given me their recommendations on how we can strengthen the education guarantees and some longer-term solutions to the placement area, which is an important step towards ensuring that all young people receive an education.
