Fewer completing vocational education
Since 2007 there has been a decrease in the proportion of young people who complete vocational training. It shows a new survey from the Ministry of Education.
Fewer young people complete their gastronomy, masonry and other VET. New statistics from the Ministry of Education show that completion rates in vocational education has decreased from 56.3 percent in 2007 to 52.5 percent in 2011.
"It is crucial to reverse the trend. Denmark is a production and knowledge country, and we need many more skilled young craftsmen to future society. Therefore, I have set up a training range during the presentation of the recent budget proposal. One way of finding long-term solutions to more young people in vocational training can have an internship, "says Children and Education Christine Antorini.
Additionally's budget proposal for 2013 allocated 800 million kroner inter alia, to increase the quality of vocational training in 2013 and 2014, while the following two years will be 750 million kroner extra. It is annually allocated 180 million kroner of the additional funds to support and strengthen the internship area.
Conversely, the proportion who complete vocational training, progress differently positive out of student intake. It is particularly in basic courses where intake increased from 44,400 students in 2008 to 49,100 students in 2010. However, there was a slight decline in 2011, when the inflow was 47,800 students for basic vocational training.
