Design line - Textile School

Some are born with a gold pin in his hand, others must work hard to get where they can prove themselves through art and fashion. Many dream to use their skills in design and craftsmanship, to be the next big fashion designer. The first step to living the dream as a fashion designer's design line at the Textile School.

On the design bar, you learn to develop your creative skills from their inception to the finished product. Whichever direction in design you want to go, so it will always start with an idea. You learn in training, how to develop an idea so that it can become a reality.

Design is more than just designing clothes and although there is a focus on textile design at the school, then it is also of furniture design, accessories and interior work with. In order to work as an independent fashion designer, it is important to develop a model or template that subsequent products must be made from. Therefore, you will learn among other things, to draw and sew the models you want to design. Then comes the whole production of the model in which you learn to cut the knitting press and weaving. As a designer you use not just the usual materials in the context you are used to. Maybe you've decided to knit something in plastic or pressing face painting at the couch cushions.

Twice a year, set up a fashion show, where you must present your collection. For the fashion show you will learn how to styler models and stage show, so there is a history of the show to support your design. Set design is an important part of the show, which you also learn how to set up.

When you need to present your project, you learn to communicate so your audience sees and understands your project.

Below you can read some testimonials from a few former students who have benefited greatly from the training.

Livia Schück,

Now students at Beckmans College of Design in Stockholm.

"The course of TEXTIL SCHOOL has lived up to all my expectations and then some. I had before I started, a good knowledge of craft, so my goal of the training was to develop myself more in the design process. I have with great help from all the wonderful teachers who have shown great commitment and inspired, discovered many new pages in my own creativity.

I learned of the many exciting projects and electives, which has opened my eyes to how big the world is in design.

I had heard about the school through a friend and went catwalk at one of their previous fashion shows. Here I got to know that at TEXTIL SCHOOL was the opportunity to develop more creative and work more with ideas. It was exactly what I needed, to be able to realize my dream to get in on some of the design schools that interested me (especially Beckman). Getting on the design team with so many like-minded people - people you would otherwise never have met - have been inspiring in itself, and it is very instructive to take part in others' ideas and knowledge.

It's been really nice to come to school every day, also because it is so nicely in the woods. On the whole, I have been really happy with my time at the school and would really recommend it to anyone who is interested in design; no matter how much experience you have or what your goals are. "

Lisbeth Dam

Now students at the School of Design (KADK) line for textile design.

"I started at TEXTIL SCHOOL with the expectation that I would be better to sew, but quickly found out that it was not something for me - but it was knitting machine and idea development.
Through this, I realized that I wanted to enroll in a school of design.

TEXTIL SCHOOL was for me a second home. Both the community of teachers and students was very warm, inspirational and uplifting. The teachers had an eye for the students and was always ready for a chat. Not only at the professional level but also the personal. The combination of both to develop personal and professional are TEXTIL SCHOOL two inseparable sizes. After I have beenon TEXTIL SCHOOL I see now a connection between my design and a personal development with the belief that you are good enough and success are paramount. When a design process grinds to a halt, it is important not to feel that it is 'me' there's something wrong with that but it is just one step in the process. It has TEXTIL SCHOOL given me and it is a lesson for life. I would not have done me a long time to design school I had not gotten it brushed out on TEXTIL SCHOOL.

It truly was a landmark year for me.

Now that I've stopped TEXTIL SCHOOL is still a place that I feel a lot of support from which I would like to come and visit sometimes. It describes perhaps best as an 'extended family' "
